In my own words
Hopefully this will give alittle idea of whats to come when you discover a lump in your neck that turns out to be cancer in the thyroid gland. mar8th/08 found a lump in my neck. mar10th/08 visited docs,thought it was a lipoma but arranged an appointment with a specialist. mar31st/08 saw specilist who put a camera up my nose and down my throat,thought it was nothing serious,an enlarged thyroid gland but arranged a biopsy as a precaution. april 14th/08 ultra sound scan on thyroid and a biopsy. april 24th/08 found out it was cancer. april 30th/08 MRI scan of neck may 1st/08 CT scan of stomach to check if there were any growths in there.may 12th/08 pre operation appointment and chat with my surgeon dicussing procedure and results.my stomach was all clear but had numerous cancerous growths in the glands of my neck.may16th 5hour operation,in at 2pm,woken at 9.10pm on morphine etc all night,had 52glands removed. |

wrote at 11:55 on 20 Jun 2008 | | | Feeding tube insertion into stomach.1stday tube up nose and into stomach for 24hrs-unpleasant,2nd day op,stomach blown up with air,local anaesthetic(2injections into stomach),morphine,antisickness,could only feel pressure as the anaesthetic numbed the area,bit strange being awake for it+continuously expecting to feel something nasty,opened up alittle i guess and tube in :) next few days were very painful,taking about 10min just to get out of bed,still sore 4days later but slowly getting better |

The Meaning Of Life...
for anyone about to go through this it is major surgery,its left the right side of my face,tongue,neck,shoulder,upper back all dead as it kills the nerve endings,these take 3or4months to grown back.the tubes left me with a very swallen lip.if you have any questions you may want to ask about my experience in any area please ask.i have 6or7 weeks of radiotherapy every day to come,update how this goes in blog.ill update photos regularly to show how the healing goes. |
